Independent storage planning tool

Know how much storage you need before comparing prices.

Add your belongings once. MoveSize estimates a tightly packed minimum, a practical storage size and a larger regular-access option — then lets you enter prices from any supplier without sending them your details.

Why three results?

The same belongings can need different floor space.

A densely packed move-out unit and a unit you need to walk into every week should not get the same recommendation.

Enter the prices you have found

MoveSize does not fetch, rank or recommend storage companies. Enter monthly prices from any supplier and we will do the arithmetic. The comparison uses the monthly figures you enter and does not automatically add insurance, deposits, locks, administration charges, promotions or other provider-specific costs.

Why this is different

Cubic volume is only part of the storage problem.

A storage unit is sold by floor area, but your belongings occupy three-dimensional space. MoveSize adjusts the effective stacking height for awkward items and for how much access you want.

Awkward-item allowance

Sofas, mattresses, large appliances and other difficult shapes receive more floor-space allowance than easily stackable cartons.

Three access scenarios

See the trade-off between packing tightly, leaving practical access and keeping a clearer retrieval route through the unit.

Bring your own prices

Enter local monthly prices yourself. The site performs neutral arithmetic without collecting your postcode or contact details.

Storage unit calculator FAQs

Is 50 sq ft enough for a one-bedroom flat?

Sometimes, but not reliably. A compact inventory with dismantled furniture and dense stacking can use less floor area than a furniture-heavy flat. Use your actual inventory rather than choosing a unit from the property label alone.

Why does MoveSize give three unit sizes?

Because access changes the usable capacity. A unit packed for one move-in and one move-out can be denser than a unit you need to enter regularly.

Does MoveSize recommend a storage company?

No. The calculator is independent of storage providers. If you enter supplier prices, they are processed in your browser and used only for the cost arithmetic shown to you.

Can the calculator guarantee my belongings will fit?

No. The result is a planning estimate. Confirm the actual internal dimensions, ceiling height, door opening, access restrictions and permitted storage arrangements before booking.
